Dubliner Gleeson to play Churchill in new movie

A Dublin actor best known for his depiction of Ireland's most notorious criminal is to take on the role of Britain's most famous statesman.

Brendan Gleeson, who starred in John Boorman's Ordinary Decent Criminal as the Martin Cahill General, , has signed up to play Winston Churchill in a new Ridley Scott film.

"Churchill at War" is being made by American network HBO, and will focus on his leadership during WWII.
