Audrey Hepburn's black Givenchy dress from Breakfast At Tiffany's is top of the frocks, a poll has found.
The smart gown, which she wore as Holly Golightly in the ever-popular film, was judged greatest female screen outfit in a survey for DVD rental film Lovefilm to mark the release of Sex And The City 2.
Runner-up outfit was the floor-length emerald green Jacqueline Durran-designed dress worn by Keira Knightley in Atonement.
Marilyn Monroe's cheeky white dress from The Seven Year Itch - which famously blows up as she crosses a subway grating - was placed third.
Ursula Andress's bikini from Dr No - the skimpiest outfit in the top 10 - was placed fourth followed by Kate Hudson's gold dress in How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days.
The top 10 was completed by Hepburn's white dress at the races in My Fair Lady, Olivia Newton John's skin-tight trousers in Grease, Raquel Welch's bikini in One Million Years BC, Nicole Kidman's sparkly corset in Moulin Rouge and Sarah Jessica Parker's wedding dress in Sex And The City,
Lovefilm editor Helen Cowley said: "Audrey Hepburn has truly made that little black dress a fashion staple which has stood the test of time despite competition from some of the most stylish females around."
