Ellen Page has claimed there are few powerful female roles available for young actresses.
The 23-year-old Juno star has had a string of starring roles in indie films and plays Ariadne, a feisty young college student who designs dream worlds, in Christopher Nolan's new sci-fi blockbuster Inception.
Ellen said playing the role was "always a dream", and added: "And I'm so grateful to Christopher Nolan for writing such a wonderful role for a young female. They're not always readily available, unfortunately, those kind of parts."
The actress had her breakthrough movie role in indie thriller Hard Candy, about a 14-year-old girl who seeks revenge on a sexual predator who tried to seduce her, and was Oscar-nominated for playing a pregnant schoolgirl in Juno.
Ellen revealed she felt she was living her dream.
She said: "To be an actor and to be in a Christopher Nolan movie is very humbling and an honour and I hope people still want to put me in films and I'd love to be involved with them and I intend to keep on doing this as long as I can."
The actress said the idea for Inception was awe-inspiring and would capture people's imaginations.
"His (Nolan's) idea that he's been working on for so long is so original and despite the complexity and despite the multi-dimensional nature of it, it's incredibly cohesive and honest and true and there's no holes in Christopher Nolan's logic," she said.
