Wogan only star to be paid for Children in Need

Children in Need host Sir Terry Wogan is the only celebrity to be paid for his

part in the fundraising extravaganza, it emerged today.

The BBC revealed that while a string of household names give their times for

free, Sir Terry, 68, receives €1,300 an hour to host the charity TV show.

The broadcaster said it was a "nominal" sum and the money comes from its

budget, not that of the charity.

In response to the reports, Sir Terry said: "I've never asked for a fee and I would

quite happily do it for nothing."

His spokesman added that the fee was at the discretion of the BBC. He said:

"It has never been open to negotiation."
