Ryder Cup opening ceremony may be moved indoors

Published 21/09/2006

The opening ceremony of the Ryder Cup is due to take place at the K Club in Co Kildare later today.

However, it remains unclear if bad weather will force the open-air ceremony to be moved indoors.

The organisers say it will be scaled down and moved indoors if strong winds and heavy rains pose safety problems.

Meanwhile, park-and-ride facilities for fans attending today's practice session have been moved from Palmerstown House to Punchestown Racecourse due to the weather.
