Ireland's top middle distance horses to clash at York

Published 17/08/2008

Ireland's two top middle distance horses of 2008 are set to clash in a spectacular race at York on Tuesday.

Jim Bolger has given the go-ahead for his Epsom Derby hero New Approach to run in the €600,000 Juddmonte International and his 10 rivals will include Aiden O'Briens Duke of Marmalade, who already has a cluster of Group One successes to his credit this season.

The heavy rain which has claimed Tramore's meeting today and Roscommon tomorrow has also hit York with the ground described as 'heavy' ahead of one of Europe's top meetings.

About a dozen Irish trained horses are expected to run during the four day York meeting.
