Cork close in on naming of new coach

Published 03/11/2006

Gerald McCarthy's ratification as Cork's new hurling coach has moved a step closer with an announcement on John Allen's successor imminent.

The next meeting of the Cork County Board will take place on Tuesday, November 21 where details of McCarthy's expected ratification will be finalised.

Ger Cunningham was seen as a front runner to succeed Allen but, surprisingly, the former Cork goalkeeper has not been contacted about the position.
