Britain takes gold at Cross Country as Ireland finish ninth

Published 10/12/2006

Britain has taken both individual and team honours in the opening race at the European Cross-Country Championships near Milan.

But there's been a high finish for Ireland to celebrate.

An excellent 12th place for Roseann Galligan of Newbridge in the opening race of the 13th World Championship

Ireland finished ninth in the team category which was won by Britain.

They took the individual medal as well through Stephanie Twell.

Grovdal finished three seconds back for Norway's first ever medal at the Championships.

The 2005 champion Bobocel came home a disappointed third
