Irish Snooker Championships to get underway today

The Irish Professional Snooker Championships are due to get underway in Dublin today after a 12-year absence from the calendar.

Champion Joe Swail starts the defence of his title against Martin McCrudden, while amateur qualifier Robert Murphy has the tough task of playing Ken Doherty.

Snooker legend Alex Higgins is also among the competitors and will play his opener against Joe Delaney this afternoon.
