Munster climb to 3rd with 6-try Magners win over Ulster

Munster have climbed back into contention and to third place in the Magners League with a bonus-point win over Interpro rivals Ulster at Musgrave Park last night.

Dougie Howlett broke his duck with the sixth try of the night in a 42-4 thrashing that confined the visitors to two Niall O'Connor penalties in the first half.

The other try-scorers were Tony Buckley, Mick O'Driscoll, Ronan O'Gara, Tomas O'Leary, and James Coughlan, with O'Gara successfully converting the first four and sub Paul Warwick the last two.

Munster are now eleven points behind leaders Leinster, one behind the second-placed Llanelli Scarlets, and level with Edinburgh.

However, Declan Kidney's side still have a game in hand, with the postponed Ravenhill match still to be played.
