Wallace and Staunton vying for World Cup place

Eddie O'Sullivan has said Paddy Wallace and Jeremy Staunton are both still in contention for a place in the Irish World Cup squad.

Announcing his team for Saturday's test game against South Africa yesterday, the Irish coach said the pair were both vying to provide cover for first-choice fly-half Ronan O'Gara.

He said Ulster back Wallace, who is on the bench for this weekend's game, is currently in the driving seat, but no decision has been made yet on who will be part of the World Cup panel.

"It's nip and tuck between the two of them," O'Sullivan said.
