Chelsea pursue Liverpool's top spot

Chelsea could steal Liverpool's premier league top spot if they beat Wigan at the JJB stadium in today's early kick-off.

Michael Ballack could be involved after responding well to treatment on his injured ankle, while midfielder Michael Essien may also be fit for the 1.30pm kick-off.

The big news at the club is Andriy Shevchenko's return to AC Milan.

The 31-year-old has left Stamford Bridge after failing to make an impact since his arrival in 2006.

Today's other game sees Manchester City host West Ham.

City are without four of their strikers, through injury and Olympic duty.
