Spurs win with final minute goals in Upton Park thriller

Published 04/03/2007

Tottenham scored twice in a dramatic finish at Upton Park to hammer

another nail into West Ham's relegation coffin.

The Hammers, having sacrificed a two-goal lead, had been six minutes from

victory after Bobby Zamora headed them into a 3-2 lead.

But Dimitar Berbatov curled in a late free-kick and Spurs then hit West Ham on

the break as Paul Stalteri stroked home the winner deep into injury-time.

West Ham threw on Bobby Zamora for Matthew Etherington as they went in search

of a winner and the former Tottenham striker made an immediate impact.

Zamora rose above the Spurs defence to head West Ham into the lead with six

minutes remaining.

But the home side amazingly could not even hold on for a point.

Tainio was fouled on the edge of the area and, from virtually the same spot

Tevez scored, Berbatov curled in the equaliser.

And as West Ham chased a late winner they were hit on the break. Defoe raced

clear and when his shot was only parried by Green, Stalteri was on hand to slot

in the winner four minutes into injury time.
