Terry sent off as Tottenham beat Chelsea in Premiership

Published 06/11/2006

John Terry was sent off yesterday as Chelsea crashed to their second defeat of the Premiership season at the hands of Tottenham.

Goals from Michael Dawson and Aaron Lennon helped Spurs win 2-1 and record their first top-flight win over their London rivals in six years.

Speaking afterwards, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho criticised the referee, saying he could not see why Terry was given a red card.

Elsewhere yesterday, Aston Villa went sixth in the table with a 2-0 win over Blackburbn, while there were scuffles between Arsene Wenger and Alan Pardew as West Ham beat Arsenal 1-0 to move clear of the relegation zone.
