1 dead and 2 critically injured in separate road accidents in Mayo, Galway and Laois

An 83 year old man has died after a crash in County Mayo.

Gardai in Westport say Sean Neilus with an address in Westport was cycling when the collision with a car occurred on the Castlebar Road at eight o'clock last night.

He was taken to Castlebar General Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly before ten last night.

Meanwhile a woman is in a critical condition after a single vehicle crash in Tuam, County Galway.

It happened on the Tuam to Athenry Road this afternoon.

A man is also in a critical condition after a car and a truck crashed in Portlaoise.

The collision occurred on the N8 at Clonad at half past nine this morning.

Three other people are in hospital and one of those is in a serious condition.
