Twenty per cent of Leaving Cert pupils who appealed their results this year succeeded in getting an upgrade, according to figures published today.
The State Examinations Commission says more than one-quarter of appeals were successful in some subjects, including biology, geography, history and accounting.
Twelve per cent of students who appealed their Higher Level English results were granted an improved grade.
