Ahern leads tributes to Booker winner Anne Enright

The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has been leading tributes to Irish writer Anne Enright following her Booker Prize victory last night.

The Dubliner won the €50,000 prize for her novel The Gathering, about a family dealing with the suicide of a loved one.

Mr Ahern and the opposition party leaders paid tribute to Ms Enright in the Dail today, with the Taoiseach describing her win as a "marvellous achievement".

Arts Minister Seamus Brennan has also congratulated the 45-year-old, describing The Gathering as an insightful piece of writing.
