An 11-year-old schoolboy has been found hanged at his home.

Daniel Woodward was discovered dead at the property on Secker Avenue, Warrington, in Cheshire, on Wednesday.

An inquest is yet to be opened but it is believed the schoolboy took his own life.

A Cheshire Police spokesman confirmed on Thursday that a post-mortem examination showed the cause of death as hanging.

A source said: "He was not a problem child and there were no social services issues.

"It is absolutely tragic."
