Boy, 15, charged over fatal knifing

A boy aged 15 has been charged with the murder of a man killed on his way home from work in Birmingham

A teenager has been charged with the murder of a 21-year-old man stabbed to death as he walked home from work.

The 15-year-old boy, from Erdington, Birmingham, was arrested on Saturday night on suspicion of murdering Yajay Sudra, who was stabbed to death in an apparent attempted mugging as he walked home from Birmingham International Airport where he worked in a book store.

Mr Sudra managed to stagger from the scene of the alleged attack on Marsh Lane in Erdington to his home nearby, where he was found by his mother on their doorstep.

He died in her arms from a single stab wound to the heart following the incident on July 9.

The boy, who has not been named, was remanded in custody. He will appear before magistrates, either in Birmingham or Sutton Coldfield, on Monday morning.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: "A 15-year-old male arrested on suspicion of the murder of Yajay Sudra has been charged (with murder)."
