Cowen confident public will see through 'No' campaign tactics

The Taoiseach says he is confident Irish people can see through tactics used by 'No' campaigners to sway voters against the Lisbon Treaty.

Brian Cowen says that voters are being asked to vote 'Yes' in order to make EU decision-making more effective and efficient.

He also says there was nothing in the Lisbon Treaty that would lead to a change in Ireland's rate of corporation tax, adding that Ireland is a sovereign state in relation to tax levels.

Addressing a conference of Young Fianna Fail today, the Taoiseach said a No vote is a vote for no change.
