Fine Gael want IT colleges to be represented in the Seanad

Fine Gael has called for an extension of the electoral register for university seats in the Seanad.

At present, graduates of Institutes of Technology aren't represented in the country's upper house

Fine Gael's Billy Timmons said a report on the issue was handed in to the government two years ago, and that he's still waiting for action on the issue.

He said the registrar should be extended as soon as possible as the Seanad election will take place after the General election in a few months time.
