The Irish Farmers' Association is accusing the European Commission of having lax standards when it comes to foot and mouth disease.
National Livestock Chairman John Bryan has said it is not doing its best to keep the virus out of Europe.
He said that the EU does not have the same level of precautions against the disease as the United States and Japan.
