Kenny slams Ahern's 'shift in policy' on SF

The Fine Gael Leader Enda Kenny has described comments made by the Taoiseach Bertie Ahern today that he would accept Sinn Fein support in order to remain in power as a dramatic shift in position

Mr Kenny quoted past interviews given by Bertie Ahern in which he said that he would take Fianna Fail over to the Opposition benches rather than accept support from Sinn Fein

Mr Kenny has also called on PD Leader Michael McDowell to state whether he would be willing to accept Sinn Fein support

Mr Ahern stated today that it would not be reasonable for Fianna Fail to object to such support in the next Dail

But he said his party would not enter coalition discussions or any form of a pact with Sinn Fein
