The Labour Party last night urged the government to follow Britain in reforming the law in relation to inheritance tax.
The party's finance spokesperson Joan Burton made her comments in light of changes in this area announced in Britain this week.
The British Government has raised the cut-off point for inheritance tax on property from 300,000 to 600,000 pounds.
Burton said current rates of tax on inheritance are far too high.
