If elected to government, the Labour party promised it will provide one year's free pre-school education for all children.
It's the first of the party's pre-election 'Commitments for Change' that are being unveiled over the coming weeks.
The Party says the move will cost one hundred and eighty million euro each year.
Speaking at the launch of the campaign, leader Pat Rabbitte said the investment represented good value for money and would make greatly improve the quality of life of parents and children.
