The Labour Party leader has promised to put job creation at the centre of Government policy if elected to power.
Eamon Gilmore said the country can lift itself out of the recession, but it needs a sense of national direction that the current Government is failing to provide.
He said Labour would cut employers' PRRI, and introduce a new third tax rate for the wealthy.
Speaking at his party's conference in Mullingar last night Eamon Gilmore maintained that Ireland can lift itself out of the current mess if people work together.
He has also accused the Government of pessimism and of panicking in the face of the recession.
