SF executive meets to discuss feedback on policing issue

Sinn Fein's ard comhairle is due to meet in Dublin today to discuss its stance on the contentious issue of policing in the North.

Under last month's St Andrew's deal, the party is required to endorse the PSNI and "the rule of law" before devolved government is restored.

Sinn Fein has been engaging in a consultation process its grassroots membership for the past two weeks to assess if there is support for these proposals.

The party's ard comhairle is due to gauge that feedback today and then decide its own position on the policing issue.

If the body backs the St Andrew's deal, it will pave the way for a Sinn Fein ard fheis to formally endorse the PSNI.
