Chinese New Year celebrations promise to draw big crowds

Celebrations for the Chinese New Year will take place in Smithfield in Dublin today

from lunchtime today.

As well as the traditional lion dancing, revellers will also be treated to kung-fu demonstrations and a fortune cookie for everyone.

They will be celebrating specifically the Chinese New Year of the Golden Pig, which brings wealth, health and - for those born during it - intelligence.
