Consumer groups slam mooted Motor Tax increases

Published 02/12/2007

The expected rise in motor tax in the upcoming budget has been slammed as regressive by consumer groups.

It's believed that the Finance Minister will slap a 10 percent increase on motor tax for people with engines over three litres.

This will amount to a rise of 150 euro in their yearly motor tax.

It's thought Brian Cowen is being forced to take the step to pay for modest income tax reliefs in the budget.
