Court strikes out assault charge against Shels boss Byrne

Dublin District Court has struck out a charge of assault against Shelbourne boss Ollie Byrne relating to a incident between him and former Shamrock Rovers manager Roddy Collins last year.

The court heard that the CEO of Shels punched Mr Collins in the face during an Eircom League clash at Tolka Park in June last year.

The dispute is said to have happened following comments made by Collins to the media about Shelbourne's financial situation.

Mr Collins told the court today that he accepted an apology by Ollie Byrne and Judge John Coughlan threw out the charge of assault.
