Published 09/10/2006

A man has pleaded guilty to killing a woman whose body was found wrapped in a blanket in Dublin city a year ago.

John O'Neill [56] Mercer House Flats, Mercer Street, Dublin pleaded guilty at the Central Criminal Court to the manslaughter of 49 year-old Rosemary Dowling but not guilty to her murder.

Lawyers for the DPP did not accept the plea and O'Neill's trial for murder is due to go ahead before Mr Justice Paul Carney this afternoon.

Ms Dowling's body was found wrapped in a duvet on the corner of Mercer St. and Aungier Place in October 2005
