English company interested in Cappoquin Chickens

The Irish Farmers' Association has claimed that the future of Cappoquin Chickens does not look bright

Up to 250 jobs are under threat at the Waterford poultry plant.

Cappoquin Chickens has been operating for nearly 50 years and employs over 200 people.

English poultry company Derby Poultry Products, which considered buying a share in the company two months ago, is understood to be interested in a takeover.

Representatives of the company have met the liquidator and former management of Cappoquin Chickens.

The IFA is hoping for a positive outcome.
