The air search of an area off the Co Galway coast has been called off.
A coastguard spokesperson said the distress signal picked up earlier was a false alarm, and may have been set off accidentally.
Two coastguard helicopters were scrambled to search the area about 30 miles off Slyne Head, near Clifden.
