Female prison officers attacked at Maghaberry

The Prison Officers Association has condemned an attack on three female prison officers at Maghaberry Jail in Co Antrim over the weekend.

The women suffered head, rib and wrist injuries when they were assaulted by a visitor on Saturday.

The POA says the incident happened after the visitor was seen passing a watch to an inmate.

It says the attack was despicable and those responsible should face the full vigour of the law.
