Fine Gael calls for tougher alcohol measure for drivers

Fine Gael has called for tighter alcohol limits for provisional license drivers and those on a full license for less than two years.

The party wants the Government to cut the amount of acceptable alcohol in the blood stream of a driver from 0.8 percent to 0.2 percent.

Party leader Enda Kenny says there is still 'a hardcore minority' who are risking their lives and those of others by drink-driving.

He says his zero tolerance policy will cause what he calls 'boy-racers' to think again.
