A man has been swept out to sea from Kilkee in County Clare this afternoon.
Emergency services have been searching the area since 4pm.
The 35-year-old Polish man was fishing off the rocks with a friend when the accident happened.
Kilkee Coastguard, the Aran Islands lifeboat and Shannon Helicoptor were alerted.
The search has been called off because of fading light, but divers are preparing to conduct a sub-aqua search tomorrow morning beginning at 7am.
