Five-year-old boy shot in leg during Limerick gun attack

Published 06/11/2006

A five-year-old boy is recovering in hospital after being shot in the leg in the Southill area of Limerick yesterday evening.

The incident happened outside a house in the O'Malley Park estate at around 7.30pm.

The boy is believed to have been standing among a group of people that were targeted by a man armed with a handgun.

Gardai say they are investigating if the shooting may have been related to the long-running feud between two family-based criminal gangs in Limerick.
