Gardai have renewed their warning to drivers to stop using their hand held mobile phones.
Over 14,000 motorists got penalty points for this offence in the first six months of the year.
Gardai say it puts the drivers and other road users at risk.
Assistant Commissioner Eddie Rock says some people keep doing it.
