Government is not worried by latest poll findings

The government has dismissed the findings of the latest opinion poll which claims that Bertie Ahern's popularity is down.

The poll published in today's Sunday Independent, has found the popularity of the Taoiseach has declined by five points to fifty-nine per cent.

In comparison, it found that Enda Kenny's popularity has risen to 41 per cent.

Minister Dempsey said the results should not be taken too seriously.

"They're grand to read when they're in your favour," he said.

"You don't like them much when they are against you. They are only snapshots in time. I understand that some of these are telephone polls and the numbers are very small. But I think the real poll will be at election time."
