Published 10/05/2007

A number of houses in Co Antrim have been damaged by what local residents are describing as a mini-tornado.

Tiles were stripped from the roofs of the houses in the Thorndene Park area of Carrickfergus when freak winds hit the area at around 9pm last night.

A number of cars were also damaged, while a motorist was also hospitalised after crashing his vehicle during the chaos.
