Inmates attack three officers in Cork Prison

Three prison officers are recovering in hospital this evening after they were attacked by inmates at Cork Prison

It's understood that one officer was attacked early this morning and two more this afternoon in separate unprovoked incidents

Chronic overcrowding has been cited as one of the contributing factors to the attacks - Cork Prison has capacity for 160 inmates but is currently home to over 250 men
