Man and woman die in separate drowning incidents

A man and a woman have drowned after getting into difficulty while swimming in separate rivers in Kilkenny.

The body of a 22-year-old man died was taken from the River Barrow in Graiguenamanagh at around 6.30pm yesterday evening.

A sub-aqua team also recovered the body of a 24-year-old woman from the River Nore at John's Quay in Kilkenny last night.

Post mortems are due to be carried out on both bodies today.
