A thirty nine year old man has appeared at a special sitting of Dunshaughlin District Court, charged in connection with yesterday's heroin seizure in Meath and Westmeath.

He was arrested yesterday in a joint operation involving Customs officers at Dublin Port, members of the National Drugs Unit and Gardai from Meath.

Ten kilograms of heroin, worth an estimated two million euro and cash in the region of 250,000 euro were seized.

A woman who was arrested in a follow up operation has been released without charge, while a second man remains in Garda custody.
