Man arrested in Waterford over assault

A man in his forties has been arrested in Waterford, in connection with an alleged assault in the city in the early hours of this morning.

Gardai say that just before 2.30am, a man in his thirties was found in an unconscious state, on the footpath in William Street.

He was rushed to Waterford Regional Hospital, where he is currently in a critical but stable condition.

The man who was arrested in connection with the incident is being questioned at Waterford Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
