A man in his 20's has been charged with the murder of Kilkenny Postmaster Alan Cunniffe.
He appeared at a special court sitting in the city within the last hour.
The man is also charged with the robbery of cash from the post office in the John's Green area of Kilkenny on Friday.
He has been remanded in custody and will appear in court in Cloverhill on Tuesday.
Alan Cunniffe was shot in the stomach while chasing an armed raider shortly after 12 noon on Friday.
Mr Cunniffe died in hospital later that day.
