Massive clean up underway following Kerry landslide

Published 24/08/2008

A massive clean up operation is underway to clear a landslide in Co Kerry.

Several days of heavy down pours caused a bog in the Stacks Mountains near Listowel to slide yesterday.

A number of homes were blocked off as the 1 kilometre mudslide reached Macca road in Kielduff.

It is reported the slide travelled up to four kilometres and damaged bridges in its path.

Engineers from Kerry Co Council were working last night to prevent the mudslide from travelling further.
