Nine-year-old girl injured in Derry hit-and-run

A nine-year-old girl has been injured in a hit-and-run in the North.

She was sitting in a parked car which was hit by a stolen BMQ in Derry.

It is believed the red BMW was stolen outside a shop in the city just minutes before she was hit.

The driver sped away and abandoned the car nearby.

In total, 6 people have been killed in road accidents in the North since Friday.

And on this side of the border, three people were killed in separate accidents in Monaghan, Donegal and Limerick.

Gardai have named the victim of the Donegal crash as 24-year-old Barry Gallagher from Killybegs.

A second man was seriously injured in the crash and remains in hospital this afternoon.
