NRA accused of causing confusion to nation's drivers

The National Roads Authority is being criticised for causing widespread confusion for the country's drivers over its new tolling system.

Independent Senator Shane Ross says the N-R-A have failed to adequately explain many aspects of the E-flow system and that drivers have been left in the dark.

Barrier free tolling begins at midnight, although it could take up to eight weeks for the tolling stations to be dismantled.

Senator Ross says nobody understands the new system: 'The system that they have introduced is diabolically complicated and I haven't met anybody yet; motorists or commuter who understands it and people are going to be buying the wrong tags and they won't understand how much they should be paying for the video system and they don't know when they can go through without paying at all, they don't know how they are going to pay if they do that and they don't know whether they are going to be arrested!''
