The National Roads Authority is set to endorse the construction of a one billion euro outer orbital route around Dublin.
The NRA is expected to tell the Minister for Transport that the route, which would run from the M1 in Drogheda, past Navan to Naas, is feasible and should be approved.
It would relieve congestion on the M50, by removing a large volume of traffic from the capital's C ring road.
A finalised study on the new route will be presented to the Department of Transport over the next few months.
