Older people urged to install smoke alarms

The government has extended the Community Smoke Alarm Scheme.

The scheme, which provides for the installation of smoke alarms, was set up to benefit seventeen-thousand households around the country.

The Department of the Environment has said one-fifth of Irish households don't have a smoke alarm.

Age Action has encouraged older people to avail of the scheme.
